Then the clerk fills the form with a form number, issue date and return date (30 days from the issue date), customer name, home address, phone number and email address. The clerk uses the system to issue them by clicking the RENTAL button on the computer screen to get an online blank rental form opened on the screen. When a customer comes in the store, the customer either picks up DVDs from the store shelves and take them to a store clerk, or get reserved DVDs from a clerk. The store will notify customers new arrived DVDs or remind to return overdue DVDs via this contact. The system will record the customer contact including customer name, home address, telephone number and email address. Each copy is recorded in the system with its copy number and current status value that is either ‘out’ or ‘in’. A DVD can have multiple copies in the store so that different cutomers can rent the same DVD in the same period. The information of all DVDs will be stored in the system including their barcode, title, producer, selling price, rental price and the number of copies for each DVD. To support this facility, new arrived DVDs will be barcoded firstly before being put on the store shelves. So that the store clerk can use the machine to scan DVDs for processing DVD rentals and returns with the system. The store wants the new system to be connected with a scanning machine as an integrated system. Then the system will add the result on the stored order form. As long as a DVD order form is received by the ordering web service, “OrderDVD(OrderForm)” starts to process the order and returns the result to the movie/game DVD rental system. Each ordered DVD is added on the order form as one order line that shows the title of the DVD, the number of copies ordered, the selling price of the DVD and the line subtotal. Ordering web services allow the video store to order multiple DVDs as well as multiple copies of one DVD using an online DVD order form. It will support the store manager to use suppliers’ DVD ordering web service to fill and submit DVD order forms online with an order number, order date, store name, store address and store email address. The system will store suppliers’ contact information including their name, address, phone number, and email address. The movie/game DVD Rental system itself will store all DVD order forms that have been sent out so that the store manager can check the result of orders. Therefore, the new system has to interact with suppliers’ DVD orderting web services dynamically via internet as shown in the following diagram: “OrderDVD(OrderForm)” processes the received order form and then returns the result of the order to the system as the response to the ordering DVD request. Once a request (method call) is received from the movie/game DVD rental system, “GetNewCatelogue()” returns a copy of current DVD catalogue and “GetDVDPrice(DVDCode, DVDTitle)” returns the current price of a DVD to the system as the response to the request. “GetNewDVDCatelogue()”, “GetDVDPrice(DVDCode,DVDTitle)” and “ ” are three popular service methods of such web services. ![]() ![]() Mary Janes are a popular part of kinderwhore and Lolita fashion. Many times the wearers would accent the look with knee-high knit socks in dark-colored stripes or patterns and/or some form of hosiery (stockings/pantyhose), and often complete the look with a plaid, pleated schoolgirl-style skirt.ĭuring the early 2000s, block-heeled Mary Jane shoes were popular in the United Kingdom and were fastened by a rectangular chrome buckle and were made under various brand names such as No Doubt, Koi Couture etc. These styles were especially popular in the United States in the late 1990s and early 2000s, within punk rock, psychobilly and goth subcultures. The 1920s-style Mary Janes were a famous part of flappers' ensembles, thus reinforcing the childlike style the flappers had. While the classic Mary Jane still retains its wide popularity and appeal, platform style Mary Janes have also evolved since the late 1990s, with 1-cm to 3-cm (½-in to 1-in) outsoles and 8-cm to 13-cm (3-in to 5-in) "chunky" heels, often with exaggerated grommets or buckles. The style of shoe both Buster Brown and Mary Jane wore came to be known by her name, Mary Jane. This strategy helped the Brown Shoe Company become the most prominently associated brand with the Buster Brown characters. Among them was the Brown Shoe Company, which later hired actors to tour the country, performing as the Buster Brown characters in theaters and stores. Louis World's Fair and sold licenses to up to 200 companies to use the Buster Brown characters to advertise their products. In Outcault's and his daughter's words, she was the only character drawn from life in the Buster Brown strip although "Mrs. She was the sister of the title character Buster Brown and was drawn from real life, as she was also Outcault's daughter of the same name. Mary Jane was a character created by Richard Felton Outcault, "Father of the Sunday Comic Strip", for his comic strip Buster Brown, which was first published in 1902. Moreover, Mary Janes are a preferred accessory of many traditional or folk costumes, such as those of the flamenco female dancer and of the typical woman in Mao's China and the Kims' North Korea. Although less popular than in the past, Mary Janes remain a timeless classic of children's fashion and, for many people, a symbol of girlhood. More modern styles are also worn in casual settings, however: playgrounds, shopping centres, sports (Mary Jane sneakers), etc. Today, Mary Janes for children, particularly the more classic styles, are often considered semi-formal or formal shoes, appropriate for school (many schools worldwide require that girls wear them with their uniform), religious ceremonies, weddings, visits, and birthday parties for example. They were also popular with women in the 1920s. Originally worn by both sexes, they began to be perceived as being mostly for girls during the 1930s in North America and the 1940s in Europe. ![]() Among boys (less common), Mary Janes are traditionally worn with socks (or without them as well), short trousers and a shirt.Ĭhildren's shoes secured by a strap over the instep and fastened with a buckle or button appeared in the early 20th century. Among girls, Mary Janes are commonly worn with tights, pantyhose, socks, or without them (on bare feet), and a dress or a skirt and blouse. In this study, the authors evaluated 1463 patients whose tumors were ≤2 cm. I read the article ‘Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy vs No Axillary Surgery in Patients With Small Breast Cancer and Negative Results on Ultrasonography of Axillary Lymph Nodes The SOUND Randomized Clinical Trial’ Gentilini at al1 with great interest. Longer follow-up is necessary to evaluate the durability of the treatment outcomes and to draw more definitive conclusions. Lastly, the relatively short follow-up duration is notably insufficient for adequately assessing long-term outcomes in breast cancer, particularly for younger patients. Therefore, it remains uncertain whether it is safe to omit both Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy (SLNB) and radiation therapy (RT) for low-risk disease in elderly patients. However, it's worth noting that 37% of patients in the study are aged over 65 years, and for this age group, radiation therapy can typically be omitted, as supported by recent findings from the PRIME trial and LUMINA study . By identifying low-risk cases more accurately, these genomic tests contribute to the assessment of whether Sentinel Lymph Node Dissection (SLND) may be deemed unnecessary, thus allowing for more personalized and targeted treatment strategies.įurthermore, the study population's heterogeneity adds complexity to treatment decisions, with potential variations in outcomes and needs across different patient profiles based on age, menopausal status, and molecular subtype making it challenging to determine which specific patient groups can safely omit Sentinel Lymph Node Dissection (SLND).Īll patients in the study received adjuvant radiation therapy. While one of the key aims behind the omission of Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy (SLNB) in breast cancer is to enhance the overall quality of life (QoL) for patients, it's noteworthy that the current trial does not specifically measure QoL as either a primary or secondary endpoint which is a significant consideration when making treatment decisions.Īdvances in biological and genetic profiling of tumors have opened up more precise avenues for identifying patients with low-risk breast cancer than relying solely on traditional histopathological features, as observed in the current study. Nonetheless, omitting Sentinel Lymph Node Dissection (SLND) in cases of small tumor breast cancer is a nuanced decision guided by several crucial factors. ![]() Oreste Davide Gentilini and colleagues suggest that the five-year outcomes of the SOUND trial, a prospective non inferiority phase 3 randomized clinical trial, demonstrate comparable results in terms of both locoregional relapse and distant disease-free survival (DFS) whether Sentinel Lymph Node Dissection (SLND) is performed or omitted to patients of any age with breast cancer (BC) tumors up to 2 cm in size and a negative preoperative axillary ultrasonography result.
